How to Use the Dresden Plate Calculator

Enter the finished plate diameter, the number of blades, and how many blocks you need. The calculator returns all cutting dimensions and yardage for both blades and background squares.

Cut blades using the calculated wide and narrow end dimensions. You can use a commercial Dresden Plate ruler for accurate cutting. Fold and press each blade tip before assembling the circle.

Appliqué the assembled plate to the background square. The center circle covers the raw edges at the center. Use the calculated center circle diameter (includes seam allowance) for your template.
